As an offering within the School for International Training (SIT)’s MA for International Education program, this course covers the material from The Forum on Education Abroad Professional Certification in The Standards of Good Practice in Education Abroad. Modules include Framing the Standards of Good Practice; Program Design Using the Standards; and Program Management: From Implementation to Evaluation. Students who successfully complete the two-course series may also earn The Forum’s Certification credential. Certification in education abroad validates fundamental knowledge of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad, recognizes the ability to articulate and to apply the Standards; establishes advanced capabilities in analysis and synthesis of the Standards; and demonstrates a commitment to professional excellence and ethical conduct.

For those seeking Forum certification, this is the second in a two-course sequence. To receive the Professional Certification in the Standards of Good Practice, learners must successfully complete both courses. Students may also take this course for credit and not seek Forum certification.

This course is designed around asynchronous learning, permitting students to complete activities and assignments on their own schedule, by the stated deadlines. At the same time, there will be opportunities to engage with the instructor and other students through a series of open office hours scheduled throughout the semester.

Note: Pre-registration with The Forum and additional fees are required for Professional Certification.
