Offered by the School of International Training (SIT)'s Graduate Institute, in partnership with The Forum on Education Abroad (The Forum), this course covers the material from The Forum's Professional Certification in The Standards of Good Practice in Education Abroad. Modules include Framing The Standards of Good Practice, Program Design Using The Standards, and Program Management: From Implementation to Evaluation. Learners who successfully complete the two-course series will also earn the Certification credential. Certification in education abroad validates fundamental knowledge of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad, recognizes the ability to articulate and to apply the Standards; establishes advanced capabilities in analysis and synthesis of the Standards; and demonstrates a commitment to professional excellence and ethical conduct in the field of education abroad.
This is the first in a two-course sequence. To receive the Professional Certification in The Standards of Good Practice, learners must successfully complete both courses.
Note: Pre-registration with The Forum and additional fees are required for Professional Certification.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of The Forum Standards of Good Practice in Education Abroad in the field of Education Abroad;
- Apply The Standards when considering Program Design and Program Maintenance;
- Navigate The Forum’s Standards Resources and apply real-world examples to case studies; and;
- Develop clear and concise arguments and rationale using The Standards as the foundation for written communication to institutional leadership, faculty, and colleagues.
